Carol Dolan - Cobra - Assistant Guide Leader / Assistant Scout Leader

Carol is responsible for helping to offer the oldest sections in the Group the space and freedom to explore all possibilities open to them in a safe and friendly environment. Some of these things include life skills, cooking, budgeting, as well as adventurous activities which help this section to discover their own capabilities, at the same time as forging life long friendships and understanding of themselves.

Carol also came to us as a Parent Helper and when in 2008 she took the opportunity to become the Assistant Guide Leader she is also currently working on her Scouting Qualification.

                                                        Meet the Team

As with any well run organisation we work on a tier system based on good communication and teamwork. Whilst we have Commissioners for both Associations whom we have regular contact with these are based in the UK.

So for the Team here in South Murcia we have;

Assistant Group Leader - Lyle Abbott

Lyle is responsible for assisting Amanda with the day-to-day running of the Group. His experience is invaluable in helping to ensure that we do not miss out on the important Scout traditions and values as most of the 1st Murcia Sur Leaders are new to Scouting.

Lyle has served for over 50 years with the Scout Movement and is the proud holder of the Silver Wolf Award. He has also helped us develop strong links with his former Group 1st Irthlingborough, in Northamptonshire, England.

Alêx Gorvel - Piglet - Young Leader (Rainbows & Beavers)

Alêx, although young, has so far spent nearly 10 years in the Guiding Movement having been both a Brownie and a Guide. She brings a wealth of experience to help her in her role. She is a friendly young lady who is eager to give back some of her Guide training to help the Young People in the Group.

Barry Acton - Orca - Group Sectional Assistant (Scouts)

Barry is also new to the Group, joining us at Easter of this year. However, being a former Scout Leader some years ago he decided it was time to polish up his uniform and badges and show us how it is done! His knowledge of traditions and basic Scouting is proving invaluable and he has quickly become as asset to the Group.

He is now re-training to learn more about modern-day Scouting in order to gain his Scouting Qualification.

Heather Bell - Dolphin - Assistant Brownie Leader / Cub Section Leader

Heather is responsible for offering a wide range of activities to both stimulate and educate the Young People in our care whilst they learn about friendships, teamwork, life skills and more importantly understand that the only problems in life are the ones put in place by themselves. We aim to do this in a safe environment whilst the Young People find out what life has to offer.

Heather came to us in 2006 as a Parent Helper and went on to be Assistant Brownie Guide Leader, and continues her training to become the Cub Scout Leader.

Gillian Acton - Lemur - Group Sectional Assistant (Beavers)

Gillian is fairly new to the Group, only joining us at Easter of this year and has already proved to be invaluable as she is a skilled hand at arts and crafts.

Although new to us, she has been a helper at Beavers before when her own children were younger and has a wonderful ‘grand-motherly’ approach with the very little ones.

Amanda is responsible for the overall running of the whole Group, ensuring all Leaders are suitably CRB checked and qualified for their role. Her role ensures that the policies and rules of both Guide and Scout Associations are adhered to correctly. She has a broad interface with all the Young People in the Group and spends quality time with as many of  them as possible.

Amanda is a qualified Guide and Scout Leader enabling her to work with all sections and she has been with this Group since 2005. She was a Guider at her previous home with almost 10 years experience.
